This Atoms for Peace Issue stamp was issued to promote the policy of Atoms for Peace. The name “Atoms for Peace” originate from the title of a speech delivered by President Dwight D. Eisenhower to the UN General Assembly in New York City in December of 1953. He proposed a program that would educate institutions within the United States and throughout the world about nuclear technology.
