Unused vintage Nativity Scene postage stamps from 1970 - face value is 6¢ each.

Lorenzo Lotto painted the dramatic Nativity scene pictured on this stamp. Overshadowed by more famous painters during his lifetime, Lotto tried to auction thirty of his paintings when he was 70 and impoverished, but he could sell only seven. The painting pictured on the 1970 Traditional Christmas stamp hangs in the National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC.
